The BLU Studio G3: A Budget-Friendly Android Phone
The BLU Studio G3 is a budget-friendly smartphone from BLU, released in October 2017. This device offers an affordable option for those looking for a new Android phone with decent features.
Network and Launch
The BLU Studio G3 supports GSM and HSPA technology, with 2G bands on GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 and 3G bands on HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700(AWS) / 1900 / 2100. It also has a relatively fast speed of HSPA 21.1/5.76 Mbps.
The phone was announced and released in October 2017 but has since been discontinued. Despite being an older model, the BLU Studio G3 still offers good performance and value for money.
Design and Display
The device has a sleek and simple design, with dimensions of 149.2 x 74.3 x 9.9 mm (5.87 x 2.93 x 0.39 in) and a weight of 161 g (5.68 oz). It comes in three colors: black, gold, and silver.
The phone boasts a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display with a screen-to-body ratio of around 67.2%. While it may not have the highest resolution at 480 x 854 pixels and a density of 188 ppi, the screen still offers decent viewing quality for its price range.
Software and Performance
The BLU Studio G3 runs on the Android 7.0 (Nougat) operating system, which is a slightly older version but still offers a smooth user experience. It is powered by a Mediatek MT6580 chipset and a quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 CPU, along with a Mali-400MP2 GPU for graphics performance. It comes with 8GB of storage and 1GB of RAM, which can be expanded with a microSDXC card.
Camera and Sound
The main and front-facing cameras both have 5 MP resolution and LED flash features. The rear camera can shoot videos in 1080p at 30fps, while the front camera's video quality is not specified. The phone also has a loudspeaker and a 3.5mm jack for audio.
Connectivity and Battery
The BLU Studio G3 supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Wi-Fi Direct for wireless internet access, as well as Bluetooth 4.0 for easy file sharing. It also has GPS for location tracking, but unfortunately lacks NFC capabilities. It also has an FM radio and a microUSB 2.0 port for charging and data transfer.
The device is powered by a non-removable Li-Po 2050 mAh battery, offering a standby time of up to 600 hours on 2G and 500 hours on 3G. Talk time is also decent, with up to 24 hours on 2G and 15 hours on 3G.
The Verdict
The BLU Studio G3 may not have the latest and greatest features, but it does offer decent performance and essential features for a budget-friendly price. Its compact design and good battery life make it a suitable option for those looking for a simple and affordable Android phone.
