The Sleek and Powerful HTC One X: A Blast from the Past
The HTC One X was released in 2012, with its accompanying specifications being the talk of the town. Seven years later, we can still appreciate the impressive features that this device brought to the market.
With its slim and lightweight design, measuring at just 8.9mm thickness and weighing 130g, the One X was a sleek and portable device. It boasted a 4.7 inch Super IPS LCD2 display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and a screen-to-body ratio of 64.8%, providing stunning visuals for its time. The display was also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, making it durable and resistant to scratches.
Running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, upgradable to 4.1.1 Jelly Bean, and paired with the Sense UI, the One X delivered a seamless and user-friendly experience. Its chipset was the Nvidia Tegra 3 and featured a powerful quad-core 1.5 GHz CPU and ULP GeForce GPU, allowing for smooth multitasking and efficient performance.
The One X also had 16/32GB internal storage and 1GB of RAM, providing enough space for all your apps, photos, and files. However, it did not have a card slot for expandable storage.
In terms of camera, the One X featured an 8MP single rear camera with LED flash and a 1.3MP front camera. The main camera was capable of recording 1080p videos at 24fps and had stereo sound recording, while the front camera could record at 720p. These were impressive camera specifications for a device released in 2012.
Connectivity wise, the One X supported Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, and hotspot. It also had Bluetooth 4.0, A2DP, and NFC capabilities. Other features included GPS, A-GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a microUSB 2.0 port with MHL TV-out support.
The One X's sound capabilities were also noteworthy, with its loudspeaker and 3.5mm jack providing clear and crisp sound quality. It also had built-in sensors such as an accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass.
Powering all these features was a non-removable Li-Po 1800 mAh battery. While this may seem small in comparison to today's devices, it was sufficient for the One X's time and could last a full day with moderate use.
The One X came in two color options - gray and white - and was only available in one model. Its price at the time of release was approximately 170 EUR, which was considered reasonable for a high-end device.
In terms of network capabilities, the One X supported GSM, HSPA, and TD-SCDMA technologies. Its 2G bands covered GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 while its 3G bands were HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100, with the addition of TD-SCDMA for the HTC One XT variant. It also had a speed of HSPA 21.1/5.76 Mbps.
Unfortunately, due to being released in 2012, the One X has now been discontinued, but its legacy still lives on in the hearts of many HTC fans. Even though it may not match up to today's smartphone standards, the One X was truly a game-changer during its time and will forever be remembered as one of HTC's iconic devices.
