Nokia's Cancellation of the 7.3: What Happened?

Nokia, a well-known and respected brand in the mobile phone industry, had announced the release of its new device, the 7.3. However, just as the anticipation for this phone was building up, Nokia suddenly announced the cancellation of its release.

Release Date and Operating System

The Nokia 7.3 was set to run on Android 10 and would have been a part of the Android One program. This meant that it would receive timely updates and have a clean and bloat-free operating system. Unfortunately, we will not be able to experience this on the 7.3.

Dimensions and Storage

One of the standout features of the 7.3 was its slim profile, with a thickness of only 8.2mm. This would have made it a comfortable device to hold and use. In terms of storage, it was reported to come in two variants – 64GB and 128GB, both expandable with a microSDXC card.

Network Capability

The 7.3 was equipped with support for both 4G and 5G networks, making it future-ready. It was said to have 2G, 3G, 4G LTE, and even 5G SA/NSA network bands, allowing a seamless and fast browsing experience.

Launch Status and Body Build

Sadly, despite all the speculations and hype, the Nokia 7.3 never made it to the market. It was announced but not launched, as the brand decided to cancel its release for reasons undisclosed. The body build was expected to be a combination of glass and plastic, with a Gorilla Glass 3 front and back, and a plastic frame.

Display and Platform

The 7.3 was rumored to come with a 6.5-inch IPS LCD display, featuring HDR10 and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It would have had a screen-to-body ratio of around 80.6%, giving users ample space for all their needs. The phone was set to run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 5G chipset, along with an octa-core processor and Adreno 619L GPU.

Memory and Camera

The 7.3 was expected to come with 6GB of RAM and a choice between 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. It was reported to have a dedicated slot for a microSDXC card. The device had an impressive quad-camera setup, led by a 48MP primary lens, accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide, 5MP macro, and 2MP depth sensor. For selfies, the phone was set to have a 24MP front-facing camera.

Sound and Connectivity

With a loudspeaker and a 3.5mm jack, the 7.3 was ready to deliver clear and crisp audio. It supported Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and NFC, and also had a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer. In terms of security, the phone had a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Battery and Other Features

The phone was said to have a 4000mAh battery, which could easily last throughout the day. It also supported 18W wired charging, providing a quick top-up when needed. Some other features that the Nokia 7.3 was rumored to have included Zeiss optics for the cameras, HDR support, and a range of sensors such as accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass.

The Cancellation of the Nokia 7.3

The Nokia 7.3 was announced but not officially launched, leaving many fans disappointed. While the exact reason for the cancellation is unknown, it could have been due to financial or logistical factors. Whatever the reason may be, it's a shame that we will not be able to experience what could have been a great device from Nokia.
