The Samsung C510: A Blast From the Past in Feature Phones
A Small Yet Mighty Device
Released in September 2008, the Samsung C510 quickly gained popularity as a feature phone. Weighing only 70 grams and with a thickness of 16.7mm, it was a small and compact device that was easy to carry around. Despite its size, it packed a punch with its impressive features.
The Basics
The C510 had 2MB of storage, although it did not have a card slot for expandable memory. It also ran on a GSM network with 2G bands of 900/1800/1900 and GPRS Class 10 technology. However, it did not support EDGE.
Discontinued But Not Forgotten
Announced in September 2008, the C510 had a short life as it was discontinued shortly after. But even though it may be considered a blast from the past now, it was definitely not forgotten by loyal fans of Samsung devices.
Design
The C510 had dimensions of 80 x 40 x 16.7 mm (3.15 x 1.57 x 0.66 in) and a mini-SIM card slot. Its display was a CSTN screen with 65K colors and a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels. It also had an external monochrome display with 96 x 96 pixels.
Storage and Camera
Unfortunately, the C510 did not have a card slot for expandable storage. It had an internal storage capacity of 2MB, which could hold 500 entries in the phonebook and save 20 dialed, received, and missed calls in the call records. Unfortunately, the camera was also limited to a single VGA lens and did not support video.
Features
The C510 may have been a basic feature phone, but it still had some notable features. It had a built-in speakerphone, a converter, calculator, and the ability to send SMS, EMS and MMS messages. It also had access to WAP 2.0/xHTML browsing and games.
Battery Life and Other Details
The C510's battery was removable and had a capacity of 800 mAh. This could last up to 200 hours on standby and up to 4 hours and 30 minutes of talk time. It came in a sleek gray color and had a SAR EU rating of 1.60 W/kg (head).
In Conclusion
Although the Samsung C510 may be considered outdated now, it was a revolutionary device during its time. Its small size, impressive features, and classic design made it a favorite among feature phone users. Even though it has been discontinued, it will always be remembered as a device that paved the way for future Samsung models.
